Sitti Navarro, popularly known as Sitti in the country’s bossa nova scene, is set to captivate The Terraces Ayala Center Cebu patrons as she performs tonight, November 14, beginning 7pm.
Chill out to the soothing voice that sprung Sitti’s debut album “Café Bossa” to certified double platinum status. Her songs, ranging from traditional bossa nova songs to dance-electronica, have separated her performing caliber from the rest, and she continues to earn praise from her many appearances guest hosting episodes of “Pinoy Big Brother” and “Pinoy Dream Academy.”
The Terraces, and its select excellent dining establishments, are the perfect venue to enjoy her trademark mellow voice, the same one that made “Tattooed on my mind” reverberate in listeners’ minds after hearing it.

THE last time we saw Sitti, the original Queen of Bossa Nova, was on television swaying to a romantic tune in “Shall We Dance.” She was so graceful, so breathtakingly beautiful and refreshingly talented. When she smiles, the whole world smiles.
Then we heard that instead of going home to Las Piñas, Sitti has decided to take residence at Stonehouse, a bar-resto apartelle which is just a few steps away from where I live in E. Rodriguez. Stonehouse is owned by Sitti’s former manager Gary. We attempted to drop by at Stonehouse and say hello to her but somehow we never made it despite the convenience.
We finally met Sitti last week for the launch of her first Christmas album under Warner Music entitled “Ngayong Pasko” and we were surprised to see how slim she looks. Is she into a strict diet? No was her reply. She added that all those gigs and puyats made her lose some weight.
Sitti looked so sexy in an outfit Diana Zubiri once wore for a men’s magazine which promp-ted us to ask whether she is willing to be photographed in these glossy and sexy mags. “I don’t think so. As you can see, I am not the voluptuous type nor I have the intention of making them bigger. I can sing and dance and host. These are the talents I would rather explore and be known for,” she demurely said.

Calvin Neria, Sitti’s “First” birthday concert director, said that what he likes best about Sitti is that she is very professional. It certainly looks like it since she was in the Pink Pepper Restaurant before any of the press. This is very unusual among celebrities. She sang “Para Sa Akin” for us accompanied by keyboards. Her voice quality is the same whether live or in recording, but the inflections and her interpreting the second half of it in Portuguese gave her hit song an unusual twist. Then we proceeded with the interview for her concert at Manila Mandarin Hotel’s Captain’s Bar on Nov. 29 as she ate garden salad and pesto.

“For me, being young means being energetic, idealistic, and ready for anything,” says Sitti Navarro, who at 23 years old has been billed the Philippines’ Queen of Bossa Nova. “Don’t limit yourself, now is really the best time to make a difference.”
Back from her well-received U.S. tour, Sitti has certainly wasted no time on idle pursuits. A sought-after singer, host, and actress, she has released five albums including the double platinum Café Bossa, the platinum My Bossa Nova, and the gold certified Sitti Live!
Her latest release, Ngayong Pasko, is in stores now and achieved gold status within the same month of its October 2008 release.
“Ang bait ni Lord talaga,” says Sitti with a smile. “Kaya din I just try focus my energies on being good at what I do.”

Sitti is known as “Bossa Nova Diva,” but you can also add the words “dancing,” “singing,” “hosting” and “acting” before the title.
She was recently in TV5’s “Shall We Dance,” proving that she also has amazing moves to go with her superb voice. Will she do more than just sing in her future shows? “I have to talk to Direk Calvin Niera about that,” she says with a laugh. She admits that she did enjoy the stint but as much as she wants, her schedule got in the way.
Sitti is also a host. She would sometimes sub for Valerie Concepcion or Pokwang in “Wowowee.” She also hosted “Pinoy Big Brother 2″ on Studio 23 with Asia Agcaoili.
She was also seen in Judy Ann Santos’ ABS-CBN soap “Ysabella,” where she played a – tadah! – singer.
“Mahirap nga lang career-in ang trabaho nila (mga artista),” she explains. “Magdamagang taping. Mahirap sa boses.”
