YOUR birthday is the perfect time to look back on how far you’ve come and embrace all that the future has in store for you at the same time – and that is exactly what Sitti Navarro will do on her birthday.
Sitti will celebrate her birthday at the Captain’s Bar of the Mandarin Oriental Hotel, where she will do a concert titled “First.” The title is appropriate because this is Sitti’s first birthday show.
The three-part show will trace her roots. “I’m very excited,” said Sitti when she had lunch with the press at Pink Pepper Restaurant located on the forth floor of Robinsons Place Manila’s Midtown Wing. “The first part will show how I got my start in the business and the second part will show my rise to fame. The third and final part will show where I plan to take my career in the future.
“I decided to celebrate my birthday by doing a concert instead of throwing a party because I wanted ‘First’ to be my thank-you to all who supported me and my music,” she finished.
To show just how grateful she is to her fans for helping her get to where she is now, Sitti prepared some very special production numbers for “First.” Her repertoire includes the big-band standard “Orange Colored Sky,” which has been done by many artists in the past, including jazz legend Nat King Cole. She will also sing other standards including “They Can’t Take That Away From Me” and “I’ve Got A Crush On You.” Sitti will do two medleys as well – the Barbra Streisand Medley and the Gypsy King Medley.
But perhaps the best number is the one that will mark a first in her career as a concert performer. She will do the song “Baila,” originally by Latin sensation Jennifer Lopez, complete with a well-choreographed dance sequence.
Asia’s Pop Idol Christian Bautista and fast-rising R&B star Myrus will be part of “First” as well. “First” is directed by Calvin Neria from the script by Noel Ferrer. Naldy Rodriguez is musical director.
“First” is produced by Amy Arenas of Echo Jham Entertainment and One World Music Production, Inc. in cooperation with Music Museum and Mandarin Oriental Manila. Tickets are available at Ticketworld (891-9999), Mandarin Oriental Manila (750-8888, local 2446) and Music Museum (721-0635 and 721-6726).
