An Evening in December with SittiBOSSA nova diva Sitti will have a Christmas concert titled “An Evening in December with Sitti” tonigth at 8 , at the Music Museum. Joining her on stage are Christian Bautista, Richard Poon, and Hiyas ng Pilipinas Children’s Choir.

Sitti is now a Backroom artist. She has successfully reintroduced bossa nova as a new kind of music to a modern era of listeners. Her string of best-selling albums like “Café Bossa,” “Sitti Live!,” “Sitti In the Mix,” and “My Bossa Nova” has captured the Filipinos’ interest in the bossa nova genre. Her “Café Bossa” led to the surge of bossa nova CDs and bossa-inspired OPM songs.

She has recently released her new album titled “Ngayong Pasko” under Warner Music Philippines. The album contains songs like “All I Want for Christmas,” “Ngayong Pasko,” “Santa Baby,” “Winter Wonderland,” “Someday At Christmas,” “Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas,” “I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus,” “Grown-Up Christmas List,” “The Christmas Song,” “Jingle Bell Rock” and “Boogie Woogie Santa Claus.” As a special bonus track, Sitti and Christian Bautista sing a duet “Baby, It’s Cold Outside.” Sitti also sings “I’ll Be Home for Christmas” together with the Las Piñas Boys Choir.

Sitti has passion for her music. Her gentle and soothing voice calms and relaxes both body and soul. Her musical influences include bossa nova legends Ella Fitzgerald, Sarah Vaughn, Astrud Gilberto, and Gal Costa.

Why did Sitti choose bossa nova? “On my third year as a lounge singer, people would comment that my voice would be best suited to this genre. It was something that was not forced on me. It was something I fell in love with. There is something about singing it that soothes and relaxes me, like it quiets my inner person. At the same time it also allows me to play around, gives me freedom on how to approach every song.”

Sitti has hosted several shows like “Pinoy Dream Academy” and “Pinoy Big Brother Season 2.” She explored her range as an artist and appeared in the top-rating teleserye “Ysabella.” She is sometimes seen in “Wowowee” and “ASAP ‘08.”
