    By wawartzzz

The Queen of Bossa Nova, Ms. Sitti Navarro entertained the crowd of the just concluded “2nd FILEXPO in Dubai 2009: Tiangge, Bazaar, Atbp.” The event ended with a high note as shoppers (especially Filipinos) from around UAE gathered together in Hall 3 of the Dubai World Trade Center to shop and enjoy the nightly shows for the last three days.

“Sitti is a combination of Beauty and Brains” said DJ China Heart of WRR 101.9, “with a figure of a true beauty queen” he added. Indeed it’s true as Ms. Navarro bagged the title of Miss Visayas 2001 in the Miss Travel Girl Pageant and the first runner-up prize in the search for “Miss Silka” where she also won both Miss Friendship and Best in Swimwear. The Pinoy Big Brother Season 2 host greeted her Dubai based fans and praised them for all their hardworks. A series of songs from her hits and her favorite songs of the 70s where the music of the evening but the most entertaining part of the show was when she started to tease her body guards to dance samba.

Another highlight of the evening was, when Sitti accomodated a request from a couple whose getting married. She was suppose to attend the wedding but due to some complications on her schedule, she can’t make it to the event. So to make up for the couple, she opted to make a video which will be shown to the couple during their wedding.

Returning to her Café Bossa roots

MANILA, Philippines – Remember when Sitti Navarro first burst into the music scene with her refreshing Bossa Nova single Para Sa Akin from her Café Bossa album? Since then, Sitti has come out with five albums including a Christmas album reaching gold, platinum and double platinum.

But the Philippines’ Queen of Bossa Nova refuses to be complacent about her success. After wrapping up recording on the first week of May, Sitti is ready to present her sixth album. It tries to recapture the surprising freshness of Sitti’s debut album, Café Bossa, which launched her to fame.

“We tried hard to draw on the raw sound of Café Bossa — to simply go back to the music and interpret the songs in a laidback, carefree way — loyal to the Bossa Nova sound,” Sitti says.

The first new single off the album, Is This Love, will be released this month. The song was penned by the same composers, Andrew Fromm and Keith Follese, who wrote Christian Bautista’s chart-topping single, The Way You Look at Me.

    New albums boost Christmas spirit

    By Rito Asilo

MANILA, Philippines—If the predictable lineup of this year’s Metro Manila Film Festival doesn’t encourage you to get your entertainment fix at the cineplexes this Christmas season, why don’t you switch to music—at least, until after the festival of (mostly) cinematic retreads shall have run its course.

This week, three new albums top our list: Sitti’s “Ngayong Pasko,” JayR’s “Holiday of Love,” and David Foster and Friends’ live-concert recording, “You’re the Inspiration,” which features the much-talked-about performance of Charice Pempengco in the acclaimed musician’s all-star concert.
